The Perfume of Tango

And since we are discussing roses and their beauty/fragrance, I can surely remember an incredible piece of music "Perfume" (Spanish pronunciation: /per´fume/), which is a legitimate child of the Rio de la Plata (River Plate) culture (Argentina and Uruguay), arranged and executed by Luciano Supervielle with Bajofondo, sung by Adriana Varela and composed by Luciano Supervielle (music) and Jorge Drexler (lyrics).

Better check the lyrics and the video for a journey into the unusual, uncontrollably seductive world of the so-called electronic tango.

Perfume (Spanish version)

Perseguiré los rastros de este afán
como busca el agua a la sed
la estela de tu perfume.

Me atravesó, tu suave vendaval
rumbo a tu recuerdo seguí,
la senda de tu perfume.

No hay soledad que aguante el envión
el impulso antiguo y sutil
del eco de tu perfume

Me atravesó, tu suave vendaval
rumbo a tu recuerdo seguí
la estela de tu perfume,
del eco de tu perfume.

Perfume (English version)

I will follow the traces of this desire
as water that aims at quenching thirst
the trail your perfume leaves.

Your gentle gale pierced through me
bound for your memory I followed
the trail your perfume leaves.

There is no solitude to bear the shove
the old, subtle impulse
of the echo of your perfume.

Your gentle gale pierced through me
bound for your memory I followed
the trail your perfume leaves,
the echo of your perfume.
